I am PhD in material science from EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), where I studied the hydration development of ternary binder systems (OPC / CAC / C$H0.5) modified by additives (organic and inorganic) as used in self-levelling flooring compounds.In order to diversify my research skills, I did one year post-doc on the study of covers for space applications manufactured by spark oxidation at the University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse). I provide the scientific and the technical dialogue between different partners: two laboratories (CIRIMAT and LAPLACE) in university and two companies (GIT and EADS-Astrium). I worked also during my Master degree on the synthesis of oxides (TiO2, HfO2 and CeO2) for an application on photocatalysis.
During the last year I worked for PEG S.A. (Geneva) as Chemist & Junior Process Engineer. My main responsibility was the development of pozzolan plants (120 tpd), from the technical design to the financial evaluation. I also performed technical evaluations of the process concept design for 6’000 tpd Greenfield cement plants. Other activities included waste heat recovery systems and alternative fuels.
All my research jobs helped me to develop a solid scientific background, to improve myself in several techniques of analyses (e.g., electronic microscope, X-ray diffraction, thermal and electrical measurements, etc.) and to build the basis of technical management of projects. My experience at PEG gave me the opportunity to interact with different players and practices in the cement industry and to work in an interdisciplinary team which complemented my previous experience in research.
Working in the cementitious field, especially in the research on cementitious materials and developing technologies, is my passion. Cement is an every day material whereas it is so fascinating to assess. I would like to continue to develop my skills.
